"The ValueStar rating made me feel very comfortable that the contractor I chose would do a great job (which they did!)... I have other projects coming up — including a big remodeling — and I'll look
to ValueStar to find the help I need. Thanks!"

Free Dispute Resolution

We hope you never have to use this benefit. But if you do, ValueStar is here to help!

Here's how our Free Dispute Resolution benefit works:
If you experience a problem with a ValueStar Customer-Rated business that you cannot resolve on your own, as an “Eligible ValueStar Consumer”, you may contact us to resolve problems arising out of a "qualified transaction" anytime within three months of your transaction date.

  • An "Eligible ValueStar Consumer" is a consumer who has registered with the ValueStar Program no later than three days following the purchase in dispute and who has rated the transaction he or she wishes to have mediated within 90 days of the transaction.
  • A "qualified transaction" is a transaction by an Eligible ValueStar Consumer with a ValueStar Customer-Rated or Customer-Rated Gold service business. Transactions with ValueStar Verified businesses are not considered "qualified transactions."

You can initiate a dispute resolution request online using our dispute resolution request form, available from within your My ValueStar account page for qualified transactions, via email to consumerservices@valuestar.com, by toll-free phone call to 888-298-8100, by fax to 510-271-6731, or by conventional mail (see our address in the Contact Us section of this website ). ValueStar will acknowledge your request within three business days of receiving it.

ValueStar will then contact the ValueStar Customer-Rated service business and attempt to mediate a resolution that you find acceptable. This mediation process may take up to ten business days starting from the time we have received information from you necessary to pursue a resolution. If there is no solution that you find acceptable as a ValueStar Consumer acting in good faith, we will issue you a credit on your credit card or send you a check within five business days of the end of the mediation process. The amount of the credit or check will be the amount of the transaction remaining in dispute after the application of all credits and refunds by the Customer-Rated Service Provider but not to exceed the lesser of the cost of the transaction or $1,000.

In the event you are not available or do not respond to the ValueStar Customer Care staff, the foregoing periods for resolution of issues and disbursement of the credit shall be extended on a day by day basis.

Please see the Consumer Terms and Conditions of Use for specific details of our dispute resolution process and our money-back satisfaction guarantee.

Enroll now to be eligible for ValueStar's Free Dispute Resolution process and $1,000 Money-Back Satisfaction Guarantee! They're FREE!
