The original ValueStar was founded in 1992 in California's San Francisco Bay Area by a team of service-oriented managers with experience in customer satisfaction, small business marketing, and service business leadership. This team recognized the need for a 'service' rating to match quality-conscious buyers with quality service businesses and professionals.
Today, the ValueStar Customer-Rated Program is operated by Service Ratings, LLC, a private company formed in 2002 whose owners share that same, original vision of providing consumers with information they need to make better decisions about local services - information backed up by a promise to help resolve disputes and by a money-back guarantee of the quality of ValueStar's Customer-Rated service providers. The ValueStar program maintains its operational headquarters in Oakland, California.
